A primitive tripod stool of vernacular form, likely intended as a milking stool. The piece is constructed with a thick circular elm? seat displaying prominent radial graining and a single-plank construction. The seat is supported by three ring-turned legs of ash? or fruitwood? origin, which are united by two remaining stretchers using simple mortise and tenon joinery. The entire structure retains a heavily worn and distressed ebonised or black-painted finish. A yellow adhesive label is present on the seat surface reading P.142.
