A trio of Spode fine bone china decorative plates from the angling series. Each circular vessel features a slightly scalloped, gilded rim and a wide cobalt blue border overlaid with a gilded honeycomb lattice pattern. The borders are interspersed with four circular cartouches containing gilded symbols of crossed fishing rods and nets. The central polychrome transfer-printed scenes depict various 18th or 19th-century figures engaged in fishing within rural landscape settings. Each plate is housed in its original red presentation box with a white satin lining. The interior lid of each box bears a gold printed mark featuring a royal coat of arms above the text ‘BY APPOINTMENT TO / HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II / MANUFACTURERS OF CHINA / SPODE STOKE-ON-TRENT’. Below this is the name ‘Spode’ in script above ‘Established 1770’.
