A pair of graduated ceramic jugs of bulbous form, each featuring relief-moulded decoration depicting a 17th-century cavalier. The figure is shown wearing a broad ruff collar and a black plumed hat, holding a glass and flanked by the raised lettering GOOD HEALTH. The earthenware bodies are finished with a stippled, hammered texture and a brown-toned glaze, accented by geometric circular borders around the upper and lower rims. The interiors are finished in a pale cream glaze. The base of the larger jug is marked with the series name ‘Cavalier’ in quotation marks above a crown device, followed by the manufacturer’s name SylvaC in script, MADE IN ENGLAND, and Ware in script. An impressed number 300 is also present in the ceramic body.
