This lot features two functional household items manufactured in the United Kingdom during the mid-20th century. The first is an oval storage bin or sewing box constructed with a cylindrical body upholstered in a floral chintz fabric. The pattern displays botanical motifs in shades of olive green, ochre, and brown on a cream ground. The bin is finished with polished brass-tone metal rims at the top and base. The interior is fitted with a white-painted wooden partition and a semi-circular hinged lid attached with two brass butt hinges. The underside of the base bears a circular white paper label reading ARNOLD DESIGNS LTD CHALFORD GLOS surrounding a central graphic of a prancing horse.
