The central sweep seconds hand and dauphine hour and minute hands are finished in gilt metal. The timepiece is powered by a calibre 22AS movement with a rotor signed LONGINES AUTOMATIC and a base plate stamped 22AS. The interior of the case back bears impressed initials DS&S, a crown standard mark, purity marks 9 and .375, a leopard’s head assay mark, a date letter d, and the number 15978. The exterior case back is professionally engraved From John & Dorothy to Michael 26.8.59. The watch is presented in a period box featuring a cream satin interior lid with a gilt-printed LONGINES logo and a brown velvet-lined base.
