This hand-carved wooden object is a Yugoslavian shepherd’s wedding cup, fashioned from a single piece of medium-toned hardwood. The vessel is carved into a deeply curved, semi-cylindrical form. The exterior surface is densely decorated with incised geometric motifs characteristic of Balkan folk art. The central field features repeating rows of interlocking hook patterns set against a fine, stippled background. These sections are framed by borders of cross-hatched triangles. The upper and lower edges are finished with a series of openwork triangular cut-outs, also embellished with geometric incisions. The interior is smoothly finished, showing the natural grain of the wood and tool marks from the hollow-carving process.
