This cast chalk relief sculpture depicts a recumbent lion, modelled after the Lion of Lucerne monument originally designed by Bertel Thorvaldsen. The piece is finished in a mottled greenish-grey patina intended to simulate a weathered verdigris bronze appearance. It portrays the lion in a somber, resting pose with its head turned and a detailed, flowing mane. The sculpture has a flat base and back for display. No signatures, maker’s marks, or edition numbers are visible on the surfaces.
