This lot comprises a Holmes-style handheld stereoscope and an assortment of stereoview cards. The stereoscope features a polished wooden frame and a turned wooden handle. It is fitted with an embossed metal hood, likely aluminium or tin, decorated with floral and scrollwork patterns. The device includes two glass lenses set into a wooden board and a sliding wooden cross-arm with metal wire clips for holding the cards. The collection of stereoview cards depicts various subjects, including architectural interiors, historical buildings, and landscapes. One card is identified as being from the Excelsior Stereoscopic Tours series, published by H. S. Wright of Burnley, Lancashire. A substantial portion of the cards is housed in a period cardboard storage box bearing a label for A.C.M. London, N.W.1. A modern softcover booklet is also present within the lot.
