A Victorian silver-mounted lead crystal ship’s decanter of characteristic broad-based conical form. The body features deep diamond-cut bands above large faceted diamond cuts to the base, with vertical fluted faceting extending up the neck. Fitted with a hallmarked sterling silver collar and a matching faceted ball stopper.
The silver collar bears a complete set of London hallmarks for 1878, including the maker’s mark for John Grinsell & Sons, the lion passant sterling standard mark, the leopard’s head London assay office mark, the date letter lowercase c, and the Queen Victoria duty mark.
