A two-piece writing set comprising a fountain pen and a matching mechanical pencil. The fountain pen features a black resin barrel and a matching cap, fitted with a hooded nib and a tapered section. The cap is finished with a gilt metal effect arrow-shaped clip and a wide cap band featuring a repeating incised chevron pattern. The mechanical pencil is constructed from a gilt metal effect material with fine vertical linear engraving to the barrel and a plain polished tip. The top ring of the pencil barrel bears a partially legible incised inscription including the characters ‘W’, ‘H’, and ‘I’ followed by further illegible text. The fountain pen’s hooded nib is of yellow metal? construction, and the internal filling system is concealed within the barrel. The set is designed in the manner of the mid-20th century ’51’ model by Parker?, although the maker’s name is not fully legible on either piece.
