A Third Reich commemorative colour lithographic portrait print of Adolf Hitler, produced to celebrate his 50th birthday in 1939. The portrait depicts the subject in a brown political uniform, wearing the NSDAP swastika armband and his 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class. The right-hand margin features propaganda text in German reading ‘Man bettelt nicht um sein Recht! Für sein Recht streitet man!’ above a facsimile signature of ‘Adolf Hitler’. Smaller text below states ‘Zum 50. Geburtstag des Führers.’, ‘Volksdeutsches Kameradschaftsopfer der deutschen Jugend.’, and ‘Volksbund für das Deutschtum im Ausland.’. The print was issued as part of a fundraising campaign by the People’s Association for Germanism Abroad. The piece is housed behind glass within a red card mount and a modern black frame with a silver-toned inner border.
