This lot comprises two vintage Scottish-style costume jewellery brooches fashioned in the form of traditional sgian-dubhs (ceremonial daggers). The first brooch is a gold-toned base metal piece with a textured, antiqued finish. The hilt is designed with a thistle motif and is set at the pommel with a large circular amber-coloured faceted glass stone. The blade section is inset with three trapezoidal and two smaller circular amber-coloured faceted glass stones. The reverse features a raised rectangular cartouche marked with a stylized logo and the text MIRACLE. It is fitted with a horizontal pin and a rollover safety clasp. The second brooch is crafted from an antiqued silver-toned metal, featuring a thistle and dagger design. It is set with a faceted purple glass stone at the top of the hilt, a small round turquoise-coloured cabochon at the base of the hilt, and a long rectangular faux-turquoise stone with a brown matrix inset into the blade. This piece lacks visible maker’s marks but is consistent in style with British heritage costume jewellery of the mid-20th century. Both items feature long horizontal pins on the reverse.
