Two vintage wooden items of colonial design, likely Anglo-Indian in origin. The first item is a three-tiered stationery or letter rack constructed from a dark-stained hardwood. It features two internal dividers with scalloped top edges and a front panel decorated with three applied metal inlays depicting elephants in profile. The second item is a decorative wall-mounted rack featuring a rectangular frame with pyramidal finials. The central panel is decorated with a deep, hand-carved relief of a waterfowl in a dynamic posture. Two hand-wrought scrolled metal hooks are attached to the lower rail, and the reverse is fitted with two circular metal mounting brackets for wall hanging. Both items exhibit traditional hand-crafted techniques characteristic of early to mid-20th-century decorative export wares.
