Attributed to the Moscow silversmith Alexander Egorov, this Russian silver Kiddush cup or wine goblet is of tapering form with a flared rim and a parcel-gilt interior. The vessel is raised on a short knopped stem terminating in a domed, circular foot. The exterior features bright-cut engraved foliate and scroll motifs surrounding a central rectangular cartouche with a zig-zag border, containing an engraved script monogram. The upper and lower sections of the body are further embellished with bands of punched dotted decoration. The item is struck on the side near the rim and on the underside of the foot with the right-facing kokoshnik hallmark, used from 1908, and the maker mark AE in a rectangular punch.
