A circular sterling silver brooch of traditional Scottish-style design, manufactured by the British firm Thomas L. Mott Ltd. The piece features a centrally-set, large round faceted smoky quartz held within a raised, multi-pronged open basket setting. The surrounding silver border is embellished with a repeating decorative pattern consisting of alternating rope-twist segments and raised, polished hemispherical bosses. The reverse is fitted with a horizontal pin and a safety-revolving barrel clasp. The item bears a full set of British hallmarks, including the maker mark T.L.M in an oval punch, the anchor symbol for the Birmingham Assay Office, the lion passant indicating .925 sterling silver, and the lowercase date letter q for the year 1965.
