A rectangular black lacquer box, likely originally part of a graduated nesting set. The lid is decorated with a hand-painted landscape scene in shades of green and yellow, highlighted with fine gold-toned filigree-style detailing. The interior of the lid is finished with a copper-coloured speckled flake effect over a black ground. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible.
