An antique sporting or hunting style brooch realistically modelled in the form of a deer’s lower leg and hoof. The three-dimensional piece features fine, cast texture representing fur, contrasted with a smooth, polished finish to the hoof and dewclaw. It is constructed from a white metal and lacks clearly visible hallmarks or maker’s marks. The reverse is fitted with a long metal pin that extends slightly beyond the body of the brooch, secured by a simple C clasp. This style of fastening is characteristic of jewellery from the late 19th to early 20th centuries.
Length: 65 mm.
