A George V sterling silver matchbook holder produced by the firm Hukin and Heath Ltd. The case is of rectangular form with ergonomically curved sides and features a side-mounted push-button release mechanism. The exterior is decorated with high-quality engine-turned patterns, including undulating wavy lines and geometric diamond motifs. The interior is finished in polished silver and contains four angled corner clips to hold a matchbook or cards in place. Hallmarks are present on both interior covers, consisting of the maker mark H and H for Hukin and Heath Ltd, the anchor mark for the Birmingham Assay Office, the lion passant mark for sterling silver, and the date letter E corresponding to 1929.
