This handcrafted wooden model depicts a British canal barge or narrowboat, identified by a hand-painted nameplate as the J B Stephenson from Yorkshire. The model is constructed from various woods with a warm, varnished finish. It features a long, narrow hull typical of vessels used on Northern English inland waterways. At the stern is a detailed rudder assembly with a light-coloured wooden tiller featuring a turned handle. The central section consists of an open hold filled with crushed grey stone, representing a cargo of aggregate or coal. A longitudinal wooden beam runs the length of this hold. The small cabin, positioned towards the stern, carries a decorative nameplate with the hand-painted lettering J B STEPHENSON and YORKSHIRE below it, set within a green and white floral border. The entire assembly is mounted on a stepped, rectangular polished wooden plinth.
