Each tool features a broad, curved forged steel blade designed for scraping hair from a carcass after scalding. The reverse of the blade neck incorporates an integral hook shaped prong, typically used for the removal of hooves and dewclaws. The heads are mounted onto turned wooden handles, likely fashioned from ash or beech, and secured with metal ferrules. No maker marks or stamps are visible on the metalwork or timber. These tools are characteristic of rural agricultural and butchery equipment from the late 19th or early 20th century.
