This Victorian-era photograph album is bound in deep brown leather featuring elaborate embossed floral and foliate decoration to both boards. The volume is secured by a heavy, ornate brass-toned metal hinged clasp. The interior comprises thick card pages with gilt-finished edges, housing various photograph formats including cartes-de-visite and cabinet cards within window mounts with gilt borders. One page displays a vibrant, multi-coloured lithographic border illustrating a bird and spring blossoms. The album contains an assortment of period studio portraits including men in formal attire, women in high-necked dresses, and infants. A modern white adhesive label marked 1009 L is located at the lower centre of the front cover.
