A mid-20th century rectangular silver-plated presentation box manufactured in Sheffield, England. The box features a hinged lid with a decorative thumbpiece and rope-twist borders along the edges. The top is decorated with a scalloped engraved border containing foliate corner motifs and a central floral and leaf-scroll wreath. The lid is centrally engraved with the inscription TO J. E. S. P. FROM H. M. CUSTOMS STAFF PAST AND PRESENT. The base of the box is stamped with the marks MADE IN, Sheffield, ENGLAND, followed by four individual shield-shaped punches containing the characters E, P, N, and S, identifying the material as electro-plated nickel silver. A standalone number 5 is also present.
