A silver-plated four-piece tea and coffee service manufactured by James Deakin and Sons of Sheffield. The service comprises a coffee pot, a teapot, a two-handled open sugar bowl, and a milk jug. Each piece is designed in a Georgian-revival style featuring lobed bodies and stands on four scrolling feet embellished with shell-and-leaf motifs. The coffee and teapots have hinged lids with turned wood-style finials and C-scroll handles featuring silver-toned insulators. The handles are finished in a dark brown material. The bases are incised with the maker’s mark D & SnS arranged vertically beneath a lamp symbol, the British design registration number REG 690492, and the pattern number T 10052. The registration number indicates the design was registered in approximately 1922.
