An art glass vase attributed to Iwatsu Hineri Glassworks, Japan, dating to the mid-20th century. The vessel is formed with a ruffled handkerchief-style rim and tapers to a heavily twisted, spiralling clear glass stem and base. The body features vibrant encased bands of primary colours, including ruby red, bright yellow, and cobalt blue. This piece retains a partial, shield-shaped paper label with a black border, bearing the printed text BEST ART GLASS and FOREIGN. The mark is a known import designation used for Japanese glassware brought into the United Kingdom during the 1960s and 1970s. The piece is hand-blown, utilizing a technique where coloured glass stripes are pulled and encased within a clear glass gather before being shaped.
