A collection of three decorative containers. The largest is a circular lidded box of papier-mâché construction, finished with a dark ground and a dense hand-painted pattern of autumn leaves in various colours. The underside bears a printed label for Handicraft Artistic Papier Machie, stating it was made in Kashmir, India, for Oxfam, and includes a handwritten reference No. 7503. The second item is a small octagonal papier-mâché box featuring a hand-painted scene of leaping deer within a landscape. The third is a porcelain trinket box with rounded corners and gilt-metal mounts. The lid is hand-painted with floral sprays and the inscription La fumée s’envole, l’amitié reste. The base of the porcelain box displays a blue underglaze mark of interlaced cursive L characters with a central capital letter H.
