A Royal Doulton fine bone china figurine entitled Catherine Howard, model number HN3449, from the Tudor Queens series. The glazed and hand-decorated group depicts Queen Catherine Howard, the fifth wife of Henry VIII, seated in a wood-effect high-backed chair. She is dressed in a ruffled cream-coloured gown with pink highlights and a lattice-patterned bodice. Standing behind her and leaning forward is an attendant wearing a dark purple and black embroidered cloak with gold detailing and a traditional Tudor French hood. The base features comprehensive factory marks including the green Royal Doulton backstamp with a lion atop a crown. It is printed with the title Catherine Howard and model number HN3449. This piece is from a limited edition of 9,500 and is hand-numbered 2278 in orange-brown ink. The underside also bears the printed signature of the modeller P. Parsons, a 1992 copyright mark, and hand-painted decorator initials KW in green. An original paper inspection label is present, and the base is fitted with six protective green felt pads.
