Another Great Auction
This collection comprises an assortment of decorative and functional ceramic items. Included is a large oval porcelain platter featuring a deep cobalt blue border with gilt-scroll highlights and a central polychrome floral spray depicting roses, lilies, and pansies. A circular stoneware cheese platter is finished with a mottled turquoise and green glaze, featuring the word CHEESE in relief-scrolled lettering and a small moulded mouse figurine perched on the rim. The selection of decorative plates includes an earthenware plate with blue and yellow floral transfer decoration, a porcelain plate with a hand-painted study of peaches and grapes with a gilt rim, and several smaller plates featuring various floral and geometric patterns, including one in the style of Mediterranean majolica and a wall plate depicting a young girl in a garden.
The jugs and teaware include a large cream-coloured earthenware jug with hand-painted floral clusters and gilt bands, a pair of graduated hexagonal jugs in the flow blue style with transfer floral decoration, and a circular teapot with blue and white horizontal banding. Vases feature a bulbous example with a stylised yellow tulip on a mottled blue ground, a tapered studio pottery style vase with botanical motifs in earth tones, and a small flared porcelain floral vase. Completing the lot is a pair of square ceramic lidded dishes with a marbled brown and cream glaze on gold-tone bases and a small circular dish with an orange and yellow sunburst design.
