A professional binocular polarizing microscope manufactured by Vickers Instruments, York. The instrument is constructed with a heavy-duty cast metal frame finished in a two-tone cream and black enamel. It features a binocular viewing head mounted above a specialised circular rotating stage designed for petrological work. The head is fitted with two eyepieces, both marked 10X NF COMP. The microscope has a quadruple revolving nosepiece currently holding three objective lenses; visible markings include Vickers and numerical designations such as 100 with a blue identification ring and 10/0.25 with a yellow ring. The rotating stage features a graduated scale from 0 to 360 degrees on the outer edge, complete with a slide clip and vernier scale for precise measurement. The base unit houses an integrated light source with a front-mounted intensity control knob and an attached power cable.
