A large machine-woven area rug by Teristan, featuring a 100 per cent pure new wool pile. The rug displays a traditional Persian-inspired design with an all-over pattern of scrolling foliate and floral motifs set against a vibrant crimson red field. The decoration is executed in a palette of cream, navy blue, and ochre. This central field is enclosed by a multi-layered border, including a wide primary border with repeating floral designs on a cream ground, flanked by narrower guard stripes. The reverse of the rug bears a comprehensive manufacturer’s label identifying the brand as Teristan Superior Quality with the design and colour reference 830/13. The label also carries the Woolmark symbol and the Motte-Echt Eulan logo, indicating moth-proofing treatment. The inclusion of German text such as Reine Schurwolle suggests the rug was manufactured for the German-speaking market. A secondary red label reading TEPPICH STOP is also attached to the reverse.
