A collection of mass-market paperback books, predominantly comprising mid-20th-century editions from major UK publishers. The assembly features a significant quantity of Penguin Books imprints, including the colour-coded series such as Penguin Fiction (orange), Penguin Classics (black), Pelican (blue), and Penguin Crime (green). Other imprints present include Pan, Fontana, and Armada. Notable works and authors visible on the spines include Robert Graves (I, Claudius, Claudius the God, and Goodbye to All That), Leo Tolstoy (War and Peace, Anna Karenin, and Childhood, Boyhood, Youth), Fyodor Dostoyevsky (Crime and Punishment), Harper Lee (To Kill a Mockingbird), Aristotle (Ethics), and Nietzsche (Thus Spoke Zarathustra). A substantial run of Daphne du Maurier titles is also included, such as Rebecca, Frenchman’s Creek, and The House on the Strand. Further titles include Spike Milligan’s Adolf Hitler: My Part in His Downfall, Thor Heyerdahl’s The Kon-Tiki Expedition, and works by Jorge Luis Borges and D.H. Lawrence. The books are in original publisher’s softcover bindings, generally in octavo and duodecimo formats.
