Another Great Auction
An adjustable mahogany gout stool of Victorian design. The piece is constructed from a stained hardwood frame, likely mahogany, supported by four turned bun feet. It features a hinged, padded rest that is adjustable through a wooden ratcheted mechanism housed within the frame, allowing for several notched positions to change the angle of the footrest. The stool is upholstered in a floral patterned needlepoint fabric featuring scrolled acanthus leaves and floral sprays in shades of ochre, dusty pink, and pale blue on an off-white ground. The upholstery is secured to the frame with a decorative border of brass-toned metal studs.
