Another Great Auction
This collection comprises an assortment of decorative and functional ceramics, primarily of 19th and 20th-century origin. The group includes several pieces of blue and white transferware, notably a large oval platter with a floral and scroll border, an octagonal serving dish with a clipped-corner rim, and an additional oval platter featuring a lace-style border. Also present is a group of earthenware tureens and bowls decorated with brown and sepia transfer-printed landscape and floral motifs.
Decorative items within the collection include a tall porcelain vase with a black ground and pink blossom decoration in the Orientalist style, a large earthenware jug with hand-painted autumn leaf motifs on a cream body, and a small white lidded urn with a transfer-printed figurative scene. A partial dressing table set is included, featuring two candlesticks, lidded jars, and a matching tray, all finished with orange lustre-style rims and pink floral sprays.
Further components of the group include a pink transfer-printed oval dish, a pierced earthenware drainer plate with a scalloped edge, and a large shallow bowl with a central multi-coloured floral bouquet. A partial set of white porcelain teacups and saucers with simple gilt-line rims is housed in a cardboard box containing a vintage Boots delivery note and invoice. The collection is completed by a stack of varied tea and side plates and a framed rectangular ceramic tile or trivet featuring a transfer-printed nursery scene of a horse-drawn carriage.
