This lot comprises a Danbury Mint fine porcelain collector plate featuring the character Billy Whizz from the British comic The Beano. The circular porcelain plate is decorated with a multi-coloured transfer-printed design. The central image depicts Billy Whizz running at speed, surrounded by a border of sequential comic strip panels illustrating various humorous scenarios. The plate features a gilded rim. The reverse of the plate features a comprehensive backstamp including the Beano Official Product Plate Collection logo and the copyright Associated characters D.C. Thomson and Co., Ltd., 2001. It also bears the Danbury Mint script logo and the inscription A work of art not intended for food use. The item is accompanied by its original Certificate of Authenticity from Danbury Mint identifying the plate as part of The Official Beano Plate Collection, Serial No. 0101. The plate is housed in its original two-part white polystyrene protective packaging.
