Another Great Auction
This lot comprises two mid-20th-century personal accessories: a powder compact and a cigarette case. The square powder compact is marked Dubarry on the upper right corner of the front face. It is constructed from a plated base metal featuring an engine-turned concentric ripple design and a stamped square cartouche containing an engraved heraldic crest with a shield and foliate flourishes. The interior retains a circular powder well and a fabric powder puff. The second item is a rectangular cigarette case with rounded corners, manufactured from nickel-plated base metal. The front face is decorated with an engraved stylized foliate and leaf motif against a textured background. The interior features a gilded wash with an engine-turned finish and is stamped Best Nickel Plated on the hinge rim. The case is fitted with two blue elasticated retaining straps.
