Another Great Auction
This artwork is attributed to the British artist Beryl Cook (1926-2008) and is titled ‘Nude on Leopard Skin’. The composition features a characteristic stylised nude female figure with exaggerated rounded forms, dark hair, blue eyeshadow, and red lipstick. The figure is reclining against a patterned leopard skin backdrop, with a leopard’s head depicted with an open mouth in the lower right foreground. The entire scene is set against a flat black ground. The work appears to be an opaque medium, possibly gouache or a lithographic print, on paper or board. It is housed behind glass in a modern black wooden frame with a gilt inner slip.
