This contemporary piece is carved from a single solid block of hardwood, likely Monkey Pod (Saman) or Acacia. It is shaped into a distinctive twisted geometric form with a square profile at the top and base. The design exhibits a prominent natural contrast between the dark, figured heartwood and the lighter creamy sapwood. The carving features fluid, organic lines and has been finished with a polished satin surface that highlights the natural grain. The flat top and base show the concentric growth rings of the original timber. No maker’s marks, signatures, or inscriptions are visible on the surfaces shown. This form is commonly utilised as a decorative pedestal, side table, or stool, in a style often attributed to contemporary artisanal workshops in Southeast Asia.
