Another Great Auction
This Edwardian sterling silver and cut-glass inkstand consists of an oval tray and a centrally mounted inkwell. The tray features a plain, raised rim and is supported by four scroll feet. The inkwell is of globular form, crafted from faceted cut-glass, and is fitted with a sterling silver collar and a hinged, domed lid topped with a tiered decorative finial.
Both the tray and the inkwell lid bear full English sterling silver hallmarks. The tray hallmarks include the maker’s mark HC over HA for Atkin Brothers (Harry Wright Atkin), the lion passant indicating sterling silver, the leopard’s head for the London Assay Office, and the lowercase date letter p for 1910. The lid bears a matching set of marks.
