A Victorian biscuit barrel of cylindrical form by Aaron Bates. The hinged lid is surmounted by a cast foliate cluster finial and features a beaded rim. The body is decorated with bright-cut engraving depicting bands of ivy leaves and scrolling foliate motifs. It is mounted on an integral circular stand with a matching beaded rim, supported by three decorative scroll feet. The interior is finished with a gilt wash.
