Another Great Auction
A modernist silver ring by the British studio jeweller Douglas G. Smith. The ring features a prominent circular cabochon of green banded agate, displaying characteristic alternating stripes of translucent emerald green and opaque white. The gemstone is secured in a deep, cylindrical rub-over bezel setting which is integrated into a wide, tapering band with a flattened profile. The interior of the shank bears three hallmark strikes including the maker’s mark DGS, the lion passant for sterling silver, and the anchor symbol for the Birmingham Assay Office.
