Another Great Auction
A trio of British silver Maundy coins issued during the reign of Queen Victoria. This group includes a fourpence dated 1863, a twopence dated 1881, and a onepence. The obverse of the coins features the Young Head portrait of Queen Victoria. The reverse designs for the 1863 and 1881 specimens exhibit a large crowned numeral representing the denomination within an oak wreath, flanked by a split date. Struck in sterling silver, the coins are housed in a blue plastic pouch accompanied by a paper label printed with MAUNDY 1 · 2 AND 4 PENCE and the year 1863 handwritten in ink.
