Buyer's Premium:

A 20 piece part-dinner service of blue and white transfer-printed earthenware in the Anvers pattern by T.W. Barlow and Sons Ltd. The set is constructed from white earthenware and features a formal border of repeating stylised floral motifs within circular medallions, interspersed with foliate scrolls and swag detailing. The central wells of the platters and plates remain plain. The service includes two oval serving platters, two covered tureens (one circular and one oval), a large gravy boat, and various plates. Included in the lot is one small cream jug in a complementary but differing blue and white floral pattern. The set is accompanied by two ruby-red textured glass votive candle holders. The base of the ceramic pieces bears a blue transfer-printed backstamp reading ANVERS WARE above a crown device, surrounded by the words CORONATION ENGLAND, and finished with T.W. BARLOW and SONS LTD below. This mark identifies the maker as operating from the Coronation Works in Longton, Staffordshire, circa 1894 to 1940.
