An antique metal-clad travel or steamer trunk of wooden construction, the exterior encased in sheet metal with horizontal reinforcing bands secured by rivets. The trunk features a slightly domed lid and a centrally located brass-toned hasp and latch mechanism. The interior is finished in pale green-grey paint and contains an assortment of mid-20th-century British Royal Family memorabilia and vintage printed matter. Included items comprise various books such as Queen Mary: A Picture Pageant of Her Wonderful Years, The Queen Mother, and The BBC Step by Step Dressmaking Course. The ephemera includes a pamphlet titled The Story of Princess Margaret, a commemorative Elizabeth and Philip item, a Co-op promotional booklet, and miscellaneous newspapers and paper goods. There are no visible manufacturer’s marks. Two small inventory stickers are present on the lid.
