A late 19th-century treadle sewing machine by the Singer Manufacturing Co. The machine head is constructed of black-lacquered cast iron and is decorated with gold-toned Egyptian-revival style decals, with the manufacturer’s name clearly visible on the arm. The machine is mounted within a wooden cabinet, possibly mahogany or stained oak, featuring a rectangular top and a pair of drawers on either side. It includes a removable wooden cover with a decorative carved diamond-patterned panel. The unit is supported by an ornate black-painted cast-iron treadle base displaying intricate openwork scroll designs, which retains its original flywheel and foot pedal. A detached leather drive belt is present.
