A pair of carved soapstone sculptures, each depicting an abstract human figure in a style often associated with the family or mother and child motif. One sculpture is carved from a pale cream-to-green stone featuring prominent dark grey veining. The other is composed of a pinkish-tan stone with natural surface pitting and darker speckling throughout. Both figures feature elongated, smooth forms with a hollowed-out central section that incorporates a smaller stylized figure, all resting on an integral flared circular base. These pieces are characteristic of the artisan stone carving traditions found in East and Southern Africa, specifically resembling work from Kenya and Zimbabwe. No signatures, foundry marks, or edition numbers are visible.
