A wall-mounted copper and brass lavabo or fountain of traditional French design, presented on a shaped wooden plaque. The set comprises a water cistern and a matching catchment basin. Both the reservoir and the basin are constructed from hammered copper, displaying a distinct planished surface texture. The cistern is of bulbous, pear-shaped form with a waisted neck, topped with a removable domed lid featuring a brass ring finial. It is fitted with two brass ring handles at the shoulders and a cast brass spigot with a decorative wheel-form backplate. The semi-circular basin is mounted below on the dark-stained wood backboard, which features a shaped profile and a brass hanging ring. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible on the pieces.
