A large Parian ware bust of a young girl, after a design frequently attributed to Grinam Niam in the 18th-century French style. The girl is depicted with a contemplative expression, her head turned slightly to the left. She is wearing a detailed ruffled bonnet that frames her curly hair and a draped dress with a central bow at the neckline. The bust is mounted on a circular stepped Parian socle, which is set upon a rectangular dark wood plinth with a decorative moulded border. The material is an unglazed white bisque porcelain known as Parian ware, designed to imitate the appearance of marble.
Height: 42 cm (16.5 inches).
