A collection of six contemporary novelty ceramic teapots, likely manufactured from glazed earthenware. The group features a diverse range of representational and geometric designs. Included in the lot is a white unicorn-form teapot featuring a gold-coloured horn and pastel-shaded mane and tail in pink, blue, and yellow. This piece is decorated with the printed text BELIEVE IN MAGIC and small multi-coloured stars. There are two owl-form teapots with grey-dotted bodies, one featuring a green lid and light blue eye surrounds, and the other a red lid and yellow eye surrounds. A seated bear-form teapot is finished in a cream glaze with a red bow tie. The collection is completed by two spherical teapots: one decorated with large black polka dots on a white ground, and another with a black and white wavy spiral pattern and a contrasting turquoise-glazed lid. The pieces appear to be decorated using a combination of underglaze painting and transfer printing. No maker’s marks are visible on the exterior of the vessels.
