A miniature Edwardian sterling silver scent or smelling salts bottle of cylindrical form. The body and hinged domed cover feature dense repoussé decoration in the Rococo Revival style, consisting of scrolling foliage, acanthus leaves, and floral motifs set against a textured ground. The interior contains its original glass liner. The piece is fully hallmarked on a plain band near the base with a lion passant for sterling silver, an anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office, the date letter i for 1908, and the maker’s mark CM for the silversmith Charles May.
