An assortment of framed wall art and sporting ephemera focused on the celebrated racehorse Desert Orchid. The lot includes a large octagonal mahogany-stained wooden frame containing a colour print of a Victorian social gathering, in the style of James Tissot’s The Political Woman. There is a framed equine print by artist N.W. Brunyee featuring various studies of a grey racehorse; the work bears a printed name to the image and a pencil signature on the mount, alongside the handwritten number 310. Also present is a rectangular gilt-framed needlepoint work depicting a rural village scene, and a further gilt-framed print showing a horse race in progress on a turf course. Accompanying the framed items is a piece of sporting ephemera titled The Desert Orchid Fan Club Calendar of 1992, produced in association with the Racing Post, featuring photographic plates and racing records.
