Two portrait miniatures from the 19th century. The first is a circular miniature painting, possibly executed in oil or gouache on card or ivory, depicting a young male with dark, curly hair and a white collar. This piece is housed in a simple gilt metal circular frame with a suspension loop at the top. The second is an oval-formatted portrait within a rectangular frame, depicting a bearded man in a red military uniform adorned with multiple orders, medals, and a blue sash. The subject bears a strong likeness to Tsar Alexander III of Russia. This portrait appears to be a chromolithograph or fine print on paper, set within a decorative gilt-toned oval slip and a dark, moulded rectangular frame with scrolling foliate details. No signatures, dates, or inscriptions are visible on either piece.
